try Chimarrao..Mate Tea, like the Gaucho..
Guja and Bomba going around, the Bomba has a mouthpiece of gold..one believe it keeps the 'germs' away while everybody drinks from the same piece
you definitly will be offered a Chimarrao, do not decline, its a serious insult to the host
mellow colours of the southern part of Brasil, fertil soil and great people. life is not easy as farmer, but independence counts.
south east of Porto Alegre...the Countryside of Encruzilhada do Sul, and the historical Rio Pardo
and Dairy Farms.....Fazendas, huge estates, maybe comparable with the Ranches in Texas. Dairyfarms are smaller and of course more labour extensive
Cattle are looked after by Gauchos, bras. Cowboy.......in the north of Brasil they are called Vaqueiros and look after Cebu cattle, having a hump on the back and are more suited to heat in the Sertao and can like Camel, live for days without water, now that is not poss with Beef Cattle in the south
these days the Fazendas offer Farmstays, which apperantly quite a success
Best business hotel option in Porto Alegre right next to the "Calcada da fama' with plenty of...more
