own transport makes you hugely independent.
but every town is reachable by bus, very compfy indeed. the Leito, a state of the art plane on wheels. serving refreshments, snacks..incl. in the fare. but they mostly drive through the nite and the sightseeing is hampered.
we sure had some difficulties at times, the old busses where often tested to their limits, the roads outragously...uncommon ^..^, but we managed and had fun along the way.
in parts, the bigger Cities around Porto Alegre are connected by Train, a good way to see much from Rio Grande do Sul
