Surfing in Geriba is quite awesome. The water is freezing but the waves are great and the crowd there is super.
Me and my girlfriend felt at home.As the water was super freezing my girlfriend had cramps so before going to the water, some stretching and warming is a good way to avoid it.
In Buzios Geriba is far the best beach to surf
Good waves!
We got PDIC certified in Buzios- a beautiful little resort town. The instructor we worked with at Casamar, Kupeo was the BEST!
Funny, patient, encouraging, and always with a good story. He made the class a great experience. Whether you are going to learn or just to dive, I highly recommend Casamar.
5 day class for two costs about $582
The dive company is member of PDIC a dive association that is found often in Brazil. The dive boat operates from the main pier in Buzios and one would meet first in the dive shop, sign indemnities and then head off to the dives.
Dive equipment is perfect with Scubapro BCD's and good working regulators.
Only negative is - there is no food or fruits - departing at 10 am and getting back at 3 am and doing two dives one gets hungry and there was nothing to eat. So bring something along! But overall it was a great day and I can only recommend it to everyone!!
The dive site we dived was Anchor Island. The topography of this dive was very interesting with large boulders, overhangs, small caves. The depth varied between 10 meters and 24 meters to the sand bottom. Sightings included turtles, eels, rays, plenty of butterfly, surgeon, angel and soldier fish. Visibility was about 20 meters with water temperature being around 22 degrees C. However huge drops in temperature at the bottom of the sea where temperature fell to about 17 degrees C.
This was my first dive in Atlantic waters and in South America. The dive operation we used was quiet reliable, heading out on a 50 minute boat ride out to sea. Dives were operated individually, the dive leader simply pointed out an area and one jumped in in pairs diving alone. The briefing could have been better, and I asked a number of questions until I was satisfied with the information for a safe and successful dive.
