Luggage and bags: Buy sunblock before you get to the island. Unless you are native to warmer climates, the sun is shockingly strong and while t-shirts and hats are inexpensive....sunblock was very expensive on the island. make it waterproof too!

Luggage and bags: -Try to take the most practical luggage possible, since you´ll come in and out of boats to get to the island...
-A small backpack is also very handy for the trek...
-Don´t forget before beggining the trail to take mineral water with you...there are water streams on the way but some are not very safe for drinking....(don´t ask me how I learned that, please....)
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: -Take your tenis shoes!!!!
-Rain coat can be useful as well...
-It´s good to have your own snorkel equipment...

Pay for the things you didn't bring
Luggage and bags: In addition to the typical list that people have posted here with items like sun block, insect repellent, good walking shoes, beach supplies, etc., one thing that should be noted is currency.
Most main pousadas will accept credit cards now, but may charge a transaction fee. Outside of that, the island is predominately a cash-only place. Bring cash with you since it may be next to impossible to get it on the island. Every day new places are accepting credit cards, but it is best to plan for the eventuality that they will not.
