If you take the walks to the waterfalls, don't forget to take a good repelent, close to sweet water sources it's terrible to survive with the mosquitos!!
Remenber to protect your ankles and feet.
Those more sensitive persons might consider the unusual but effective fashion:swiming with socks!!!
The majority of the waterfalls and trails of the region are still natural and unspoiled:no bars,no souvenirs stands signs or GARBAGE!
Always get information about directions and don't forget to take all of your garbage with you!
It is our obligation to leave nature the way that we found it:NATURAL AND CLEAN!

According to scientists the sun during this year is exactly vertical to Brazil. As a consequence the sun rays are too strong for our skin, many times more than it usually is in other places. So protect your skin as best as you can. Sunbathing should be short as you can burn easily. Sunscreen is necessary. The only good thing is that you get a beautiful suntan with no effort!

Mosquitoes are a common nightmare for those who travel to the tropics. I was rather concerned when, arriving at the hotel, found a mosquito net over the beds. That announced us that the evenings risked to be indoors, just in case...
Wrong! Maybe because we went in winter, he had no problem at all, even at dusk, and the only natural visits we had were birds and monkeys, sharing with us the luxurious garden of the hotel.

    Prices like Europe

  • It's not a danger, it's just a warning:

If you visitor are coming to Paraty from an European country, USA or other "First World" place you'll find the prices too similar to those you'd find in your own places. This is valid for food and hotels after all. The "Paraty Wave" that started a couple of years ago, bringing many tourists not only from Rio and Sao Paulo but, mainly, from US and EU countries (French sometimes seems to be the official language of the city), had the effect of increasing the price of things in town. Nowadays, Paraty cannot be considered a cheap destination; even though it's nothing "from the other world", - soooo expensive - when compared to "First World" travel destinations, it's not cheap either.

Sometimes the artistic couvert that some restaurants charge for just a guy annoying us with his guitar (not all them play well...) reaches 4 dollars/person, which I consider exagerated.

black men with tresses with bright shirts with white european women with large tattos

middle aged european men with bulging stomachs with broom stick think brown beauties with high platform shoes

older european women walking with reluctant locals

bunch of very ugly 100 kg elderly german tourists balking in a group as they were out of a hideously decorated tourist ship..( hope this boat does not come to baracoa )
