Generally, the climate is tropical, and is humid and rainy during the winter.
The park is open daily from 08:00 to 19:00,tickets around 5,00 reais.
The vegetation is a tipical Atlantic Forest flora, the fauna is in extremelly high danger, and many kinds of mamals cannot be found here as in many years ago.

I just had a quick research at the web about the Atlantic Coastal Forest in Rio,and there was a picture of it from 1900 and nowadays!
It's shocking how it became almost nothing!
In this article I also read that the actual forest keeps the city about 5 celsius cooler than if totally lost!
One of the problems with the "green" areas in Rio,is that the social problems caused a high risk for the parks,as the poor squatters seek for what they think is an unused area, creating a new "favela"(the poor neighbourhoods in Brazil).

The park has options from ecological to cultural tourism.
You can have an English language guided walks as well,or buy a map at the entrance and do some independent explorations, thru the waterfalls, ruins, forests, breathing fresh air and having a splendid sightseeing!
The city is,literally, sliced down the middle by this impressive mountain range!
Here, you can enjoy the hot sunny beaches in the morning, and than go to refresh in the natural pools and waterfalls in the afternoon(or the contrary!).
Tijuca forest, besides Christ statue, the Chinese Belvedere and the giant granite picnic table at the Mesa Do Imperador(emperor's table),has a museum called "Museu Do Acude"(the dam's museum),decorated with Portuguese tiles, colonial furnitures and houses with a finest collection of East India Company China.

Paineiras,a strecht of road leading to the Statue of Christ, which is closed to vehicles traffic on weekends, and is relished as a winding, verdant playground,is perfect for strolling or jogging!
