Lapa was the old bohemian quarter, and now serves as the hub for bars, clubs and unwinding. Kick back and sink some beers in the happening clubs, there's always something happening here amongst Brazil's lively locals.
Lapa is a neightbourhood with a really active nightlive.
On weekends, you´ll find people from samba schools playing live music in the street for free. There are some bars and barracas (food/drink stalls) where you can buy food or drinks.
A really live enviroment full of young peole, reaaaaally nice!!!
Many concerts take place here, I had the oportunity of being in a Steel Pulse concert here. REGGAE ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!!!
My God. I was told over and over again to stay in Ipanema and Leblon for going out at night. The locals told me it was too dangerous for tourist to go to Lapa at night. I went anyway. It was amazing. The party is everywhere, in the clubs, in the samba clubs, discotecas, dive bars, etc. The streets are crowded with people drunk as hell, smoking weed and vendors walking around sellingn shots straight out of a bottle or a cold beer. I felt that if using normal big city awareness and judgment, you are pretty much safe (but not too safe, as it wouldn't be as much fun)
We first went to a small dance school that was turned into a make shift club. There were dancers and peformers and a lot of drinking. (Can't remember the name, something like Preforma)
Carioca do Gema
Scenerium (more clubbing)
Enjoy the bohemia!
