Melt in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro
May 2009: If you are looking for a place to go with a group of friends, I would recommend it. They have the lounge downstairs and upstairs is the dancing.
People are dressed up....the only bad thing is if you go there to meet local girls or just to meet girls, goood f'n luck! You gotta have TIGHT game and its not like in the USA where the girls are talkative. Most of them are there with their friends or dancing with they're crew.
Also the upstairs dance floor is waaaay too small which just kills any game you may have. Its packed that your rubbing shoulders with everyone and you can't even dance, and its so loud you can't even talk to anyone, so you gotta elevate your game even more. (If you call stepping side to side dancing) Then people are smoking and its hot.... I was getting dizzy up there.
My recommendation: Go to club help if your a single dude or with a crew a dudes, Go to club Melt if you are with your girlfriend. (Read my rec on club help)
This is a great spot to meet friends or to hang out. There's a dance floor on the 2nd floor which is crowded and loud. There is a cover charge at night which gets you in the door with a club card. You pay for your drinks when you leave. The card keeps track of what you order.
The crowd at Melt is a '20's aged, upscale mix. Like any club, don't pick a fight with anyone. The preppy boys generally study martial arts, and go looking for a nice mill on the weekends.
Dress Code: Jeans okay, no sandals
If you're looking to dance and meet new people (a lot of foreigners also), Melt is a good choice for you. There are two floors: The whole upper floor has a bar and dance floor only. Music is Hip Hop and Electronic. Downstairs is more of an upscale bar and area with tons of tables to sit around, have a drink and talk.
I enjoyed this club because it was a little classier than others and the crowd was a little older also. (25-35)
Depeding on where you're from of course.. this is a nice little oasis and little piece of home while you're away. Nice place to meet new people from all around the world... and after struggling with the language, it will be a relief to sit back, have fun, dance.. and have conversations in English for the night :)
I thought the music was fantastic and the general vibe was GREAT!
Make sure to take enough cash or keep track of your drinks because you will be given a card that will be swiped everytime you order a drink. That is your tab. Also, don't forget the cover charge (20 Rias for ladies), which will be added to your tab @ the end of the night.
Dress Code: Not very casual at all. Dress up.
1st floor is a restaurant and upstairs there is a dance floor. Which day is a different event. one day is hip hop, others drum'n bass or live concert... really good place.
Try the mojito, really good.
Dress Code: whatever u want
