Capricciosa, Rio de Janeiro

Capricosa has locations in Ipanema and Jardim Botanico, but it's the Ipanema location that is something special. Brazilian pizza is popular and special, different and much better that the pizza I have eaten in the US. Capricosa makes pizza the old fashion way, flying dough, fresh cheese and ingredients, cooked in a wood buring stove. The results create long lines after 9:00pm, and be on the lookout for futebol stars, novela stars, and just the Rio elite in general. I was their when the famous anchor for Globo News, Gloria walked in, and the paper said Ronaldo and his fiance were there late Sunday night. The service is wonderful, with a friendly attitude and sincere smile, you can ask for the menu in english. They mix a fine caparinia, as well as a have a wonderful wine list and cold drafts. And wow, is it kid friendly, the pizza chefs always go out of their way to put on a special show for my 7 year old, they even made him a pizza in the shape of an alligator! If in Rio, you should not miss dining at what is now rated as the top pizza restaurant in Rio!

Favorite Dish: Pizza Buzios - Fresh mozarela and tomato sauce, toped with fresh large shrimp and watercress. My wife orders the "Fungi" three different types of delicous mushrooms top her order.
