From Marina da Glória you can make an awsome trip to the isles that you usally only see at the horizont of the sea from Ipanema or Leblon. There is for example Macuco Rio which offers this boat trip with high speed boats. It is really fun! The best thing is definitively the view you get from the marvellous city by sea. They make little breaks beside sugar loaf, in front of Copacabana and Ipanema. You have also the possibility to jump into the water at the islands. With a little bit of luck you will see dolphins or whales!!!

    Another Coastal Town View!

Very scenic! And our bus would drop us off at this little coastal village and then we would catch the boat to the outlying islands. Very relaxing boat ride and a not too long bus ride. And the people on the boat ride are locals as well as domestic tourists.. and tourists from all over the world. Always a fun bunch!

We took a day boat ride to an outlying island it was a Blast! You should TOO! They are not too expensive and you can sign up for them at your hotels. It is a day trip and costs about $30 and includes a meal. Lots of fun. Very interesting! You have to splurge sometimes, and an Out of City excursion is the right ticket!

    Tropical Islands

    One of the tropical islands

They are wonderful. They are very close to Rio. Ask for Tropical Islands to any tourist agency in Rio and they will take there.
One part of the trip will be by coach but the rest of the journey (approx. 2 hrs and a half in total) will be by boat. You will see several wonderful little islands and finally you will reach Pintangueiras island.
