Sip cocktails, hang around and watch nice brazilians bodies and bums, sip again caipirinhas, engage dialogues with locals, bargain for jewelry, get some tan, look at the beautiful sand castels.

    Copacabana

One of the most famous beaches in the world, and rightly so. A beautiful setting and despite all the tourists still one of the main attractions of Rio.

Copacabana is one of the main residential zones in Rio, and is primarily upper middle class. Most of the nicer zones in Rio look like this: highrises against background of steep black mountains.

From there is where the most classical postcards photos of Copacabana Beach are taken.

Well.... just to be a little "dark sheep" I preferred focusing not at the beach, but at the mountains :o)

The most famous beach of the world. It sure is beautiful. Here is a pic I took about one week ago. Water seems cleaner at Ipanema beach but Copa was rated as "OK" in the papers.

    Copacabana Beach

This was an August morning when we happened to arrive there and the famous Copacabana welcomed us, empty, stormy and with two fishermen. But still, the view was nice.

View of Copacabana from the top of Corcovado. Hint: if the sky is cloudy sit down and wait a few minutes... they will probably go away in half an hour.

There's something hypnotizing about the pavement on Copacabana... looking at it is supposed to be very relaxing (I'm not kidding, it's in the guidebooks).
