by andre.brazil At night all Copacabana coast will be crowded with prostitutes but be careful around the Sofitel Hotel, this is a place for the transvested "girls".
Prefer the girls around "Help" discoteque.
Always ask the price and check with your hands if it´s a girl or not. Good luck. Leave a Comment

 Aeroporto Santos Dumont by hmoitta I don´t like to get regular taxis in rio airports neither in main bus station ( they were used to over rate, to make longer paths, charge for luggage, etc);
I´d rather pay a fixed price( for destination) for special cabs at the airport (COOTRAMO or TRANSCOOPASS) and main bus station; this way you can pay more but you know exactly before how much you are going to pay and the service is better ( air conditioned, friendly drivers). Now at the main bus station ( rodoviária novo rio) you pay by destination for the regular cabs and before taking the cab; it was the way they've found to prevent drivers to overrate.
You can take the shuttle ( REAL company )from international airport to subway station Carioca, domestic airport ( Santos Dumont ) and to Copacabana, I take it when I have little luggage. Sometime I take a taxi which has taken someone to the airport or bus station, I go to the wrong place, arrivals instead of departure taxis. Leave a Comment

The women! I am serious! As I said earlier on, a friend of ours ended up marrying a local! Rio = Temptation .. you have been warned! :) One more thing that seems weird, there are a lot of tours to go see the slums in Rio!! I have no idea why on earth would anyone pay $$$ to see the slums and the people living in amazing poverty! It is almost like going to watch animals in the zoo!! I found it immoral, a waste of time and money! (one of the few times you will see me talk about immoralty!). But hey it is your time and money! Leave a Comment

Well if you want to enjoy a day at the beach DON'T taste the water in Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon. The water is full of garbage. You'd better get out of the city and go to Barra or, better, Parina, a sweet beautiful little beach in the middle of the nature. Lots of surfers though... Leave a Comment

Well it's not really ' tourist trap', but I'm not really into the 'Favela tour'. To me they take advantage of the poverty to make money and it's not moral... Moreover you can felle the poverty even in the 'rich' districts. But it depends on what you're looking for. Leave a Comment

by AGHIOS Pic:Ipaneima Beach. As with most built up cities there are always going to be dangers, we did hear rumours of pickpockets in the area but never came across any,Like anywhere you go just be a little more alert and careful.Got propositioned by lots of prostitutes while walking around town even though I was with another woman.(note:They were all fantastic looking) Think it may have been my blonde curly hair and blue eyes. by wozzek New York City center. Yes, it is nice, huge etc., but while in Rio who really needs the 'Outback' steakhouse or the evil empire 'McDonalds' and the rest of the gang? Chose any good Churrascaria instead... Leave a Comment

I went to a vodoo session there to watch something shocking. But i got to a white vodoo, so they killed no chicken. Friendly speaking, I was disappointed :) Leave a Comment

If you travel for sex, be aware. Not all the prostitutes are women. Use hand test as Ipanema.com suggests. Leave a Comment
