This is probably a once in a lifetime coincidence, but amazingly enough, Sarah and I were caught and unable to enjoy a tour, because we booked the tour operator to pick us up from the hotel during the hours in which our hotel access road was blocked off by a Rio marathon! If you could only imagine our shock when we found this out!If you just happen to be staying at the Sheraton Rio, make sure to check your current events!
This activity is not recommended for anyone unfamiliar with the water depth or tide levels. Locals have learned this over time with the help of friends that are familiar with the activity.This particular rock is slippery where the water crashed onto the rock and where moss has formed. So, climbing this rock is not recommended either.However, this is quite fun to watch as the local kids dive off of this rock by the Leblon beach into the Atlantic waters.
Rio is a big city with its diverse society , so it is advisable to leave valuables in your hotel, and just carry the necessary. There are places that can be enjoyed a lot, but the beaches , you have to leave your bags with your friend, if you wanna go refresh in the ocean.
