Trails skirt both sides of the island. One strategy is to start out in the morning, carrying your snorkel gear along, and hike until late afternoon, stopping off to swim, sun, and snack. The beaches along the Mar de Dentro side have small bar/restaurants, but on the Mar de Fora side, it might be a good idea to carry a lunch along. Take your camera, too, since there are many lookout points all along the trails. The photo shows the lookout above the Praia do Leao on the Ponta da Sapata trail.
Here you can find probably the best brasilian beaches, with a gorgeouse coral reef in a fantastic cristal blue water
There is Mar- de- dentro, the island side that is in front of Brasil, more quiet, and Mar de Fora, faceing the Atlantic Ocean, more waving and windy. But rememeber that the conditions of the beach change in relation with the season, for example in sept when I was there was impossible to stay in Praia do Leao, but I know that in other season is perfect. Ask to the local people.
In my travelogue you can see some pics of the beaches on the booth sides!

Noronha has few houses, and you can find two vilas. Vila dos Remédios is the place that things hapens.
Restaurants, pousadas, and a nigthlife you will find there, and some arquitectural and old buildings.
While in Noronha you have to find out the Tide Map. Every pousada has it because some atractions you only can do in a low tide.
If you wish to visit the Atalaia beach, you can only do it on low tide, and be the first because its allowed only 25 persons each time (100 persons per day), and you have only 20 minutes to dive between reefs, fishes, octopus etc.Only this little time because its a protected beach, and you can only snorkeling dont walk, to protect the reefes,
you can rent a buggy with Alberto or Miltinho ( you can ask everyone,´cause it´s too small and everybody knows each other). They offer a good car,but you have to put gas..it´s 24hour with 100 reais cost..
noronha is a vulcanic island..but there´s no danger of eruption there...you can see vulcanic rocks all around the place...
it´s very important to have a disposition to see the island in a long walk..this trail brings you that.. a long walk over rocks to bring you the most beautifull landscape and the amazing snorkelling at atalaia an caieiras..it´s the atalaia trail...don´t miss it
If you rent a boat or just go to a boat tour island, you can see hundreds of dolphins near your boat. Or if you wants to see them when arriving in the island after their "breakfast" you need to wake up very early, after the sun rise and go to a hill near the ocean called Baia dos Golfinhos. There you can meet the IBAMA professionals (cientists who studies dolphins) and take a long explanation about the dolphin`s way of life while you wait for the dolphins.
Noronha was a island with a different purpose than today...it was a military base on the past and today it is only for ecotourism..so, there is historical sites to see, and you can do that following the historical trail, that begins on Vila dos Remedios, with the original portuguese architecture and ends with a nice dive on conceiçao,middle and dogs´s beaches...call a local guide to guide you and show you the historical facts...
when you are on the island it´s important to know the places and the exactly way to get there..local guides and the famous ilhatur( island tour) provides you this knowlegde.
if you´ll be few days, it´s very important, because you can know all the island in one day..
if your stay on Noronha will be more longer, it´s important to do ilhatur to know and later, rent a buggy and go to the places by yourself....
