by robynisa

the pelourinho-just walk around and you'll find music. city casual. the local women mostly wear jeans with some hip, sexy, colorful top. the men are pretty casual yet hip too. i wouldn't walk around with clothes that screamed 'I'm a tourist', nor would I carry anything.

by Aussie666

Any Bossa Nova cafe. After eleven gets hotter and smokier but cozy......Also check out Modern Sound (Mega Music Store). In Copacabana. What a great place. Everything a US store has plus all the local vibes including Samba, Tango, all the great latin sounds.Modern Sound has a small bar area that serves light snacks and drinks. The best part is while you're snacking and downing the Brasilian staplemate Caipirinha, you can groove to live jazz/blues bands most nights of the week. Men should dress neatly and women should wear their skirts really really short....to show off their great tans of course.

by chuckyluv

Went to Meli Melo my first night in Rio, and truly enjoyed myself. A lively crowd, and more beautiful women then the mind can logically comprehend. Later in the week, enjoyed happy hour at Cafe Passeo downtown. The live band was awesome, and one girl was so taken by the music, she jumped up on stage and danced 'the bundinha' with then band. If you've never seen a Brazilian woman dance 'the bundinha', I suggest you have an absorbant napkin with you to catch the drool!!! The nightlife in Rio is just that. Night Life!!! The city, while already exhilirating, seems to take on a life of it's own after midnight!!! When most American cities would be winding down, Cariocas seem to be just getting started. One thing is for sure, wear your dancing shoes. Ain't no party like a Rio party. I just experienced the tip of the iceberg, and I'm hooked.

If you are in Durandé during the week, you shuld go to Quinca Franco High School during the break time. You'll meet nice people. If you like to meet simple and honest people, so Durandé is the place you're looking for.

You must visit a typical brazilian club like CLUB B.A.S.E, or hippotamus. They play typical hip hop, rock, pop, and techno. You buy a card like a credit card for like $12.50 and u have to buy that much of drinks... comes to about 3 drinks. not bad at all.At Hippotamus, they had this guy who was doing dance steps and everyone was following his steps, it was corny at first.. but after a few drinks... u'll find youself in the front row, doing 2 steps forward, back flips, etc just dress like u would, in any club.

Sao Paulo has better nightlife than Rio. At least the gay scene is pretty amazing in SP. Allegro is the place to go to find out what clubs are happening on a saturday night. People are friendly and fun.

by mike_dolan

The best clubs in Rio are in Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema.Try the TV club, or Ronaldinho's (upstairs) for the best dancing in Rio.the people! these people invented the word party. neat and casual - it's very hot, and Brazilians are very informal.

by szabolcs

RIO: It's not exactly nightlife but an interesting place for a visit in the late evening: the evening market at Avenida Atlantica (Copacabana). They have all kinds of stuff on sale and the whole place is pretty vibrant.

The group started as carneval Samba Group and played with Paul Simon on Rhythms of the Saints. It one of the best shows I ever saw. Peoplearound you are dancing and you have a lot of fun.
