The shop owners are very friendly, they speak English, are very helpful. The store is clean, well laid out, and has a very friendly atmosphere.
It is easily found from the ferry landing in Niteroi. I would have walked the distance, but didn't have alot of time...so I took a cab. It wasn't much in fare. Try to have exact change.
You can buy cotton fabrics suitable for sewing and for making quilting projects. They have a nice array of the usual premuim cottons and fabrics made in Brazil. I didn't see any Brazilian themed fabrics. That was a little disappointing, but didn't detract from my thrill at being there.
The fabrics are very reasonable, about $9US equivalent. That is reasonable for a Canadian where we pay upwards of $20 for a meter of good quality fabric.
