Iguazu Falls

by realde14

The Iguassu Falls are the obvious highlight for anybody visiting this area of Brazil. Brazil's side of the falls over a spectacular panaroma of the falls whereas the Argentine side will bring you closer to the action. If you decide to stay within the park, the Tropical hotel is neat option, much nicer than the Sheraton on the Argentine side.

Manaus and the Amazon

by realde14

Manaus is a strange city. In the middle of the Amazon emerges this million-strong city, whose growth had been fueled by rubber at the end of 19th century. When the rubber boom ended, all the wealthy Europeans went back home and left a city behind that was fully equipped with a marble-laced opera house, and mansions. Manaus then completely fell off the map until Brazil decided to establish its biggest free-trade zone there, attracting Brazilians this time from all over the country to move to this strange city, in the middle of the Amazon, thousands of kilometres away from any other big city.Tourists visit Manaus for other reasons. Manaus is the gateway to explore the Amazon area with its distinct wildlife.

Florianopolis

by realde14

Florianopolis is the the capital of the Southern State of Santa Catarina and has one of the highest standards of living in Brazil.i was in Floripa a couple weeks before the season started, and it was kind of rainy and cold. Despite that, I had a great time! Really nice people, beautiful beaches and tons of outdoor activities available like surf, kiting, or mountain biking. Added to that a killer nightlife and you have one of my favorite places in Brazil!

Sao Paulo

by realde14

I am in Sao Paulo once a month for business, and to be honest, despite being a megapolis, i kind of like the place (except for the traffic, which absolutely horrible). Sao Sao Paolo is the second biggest city in the world and its urban sprawl makes New York look like a very manageable city. Sao Paolo can be very confusing since there isn't really a center or a point of reference, just a huge mass of skycrapers, flyovers, and cars. It took me a while to find my way around trough the different areas like Itaim, PInheiros, Jardins or Moema.Apart from museums, the main tourist attractions are in the centro, where there are some older colonial buildings left, that mix in with fin de siecle structures and more modern skycrapers.Overall, Sao Paulo is not a tourist destination, but a center for business. Nightlife is excellent and the gastronomical choices are second to none in South America, if...

Natal

by realde14

Natal is the fast-growing capital of Brazilian's Northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte. I spent a couple of days here and had an excellent time buggyriding, sandboarding and going to the beach. Most people stick to the touristy Ponte Negra area. I found the places outside of Natal much more interesting like the Litoral Norte, especially Genipabu and the south with its excellent beaches like Pipa

Salvador

by realde14

After Rio, Salvador is probably among the highlights of every visit to Brazil.Bahia is Brazil's most African state, and Salvador is often referred to as Africa's capital outside of Africa. African traditions can be seen in food, music and dance. However, Salvador is still inherently typical Brazilian with a carnaval that is second to none and a musical tradition that will blow your mind away. The historic CIdade Alta, the upper city is full of colonial buildings, churches, and cobblestoned streets. The main area is around the Pelourinho. There is music everywhere with blocos playing on the streets and bands performing on the different prazas. One of the best outdoor parties in the world. It is hard to topple the fun you can have in Salvador.

Salvador da Bahia

by Subria

Salvador is the capital of Bahia, it has a very beautiful old town with colonial buildings, narrow streets and a lot of restaurants. In the south of the center there are some nice beaches, which are very crowded on weekends. On the streets you can see Capoeira, a combination of dance and fight.

Sao Paulo

by Subria

Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brasil and the second largest in the world. It is very impressive when you arrive by plane because you cannot see anything but buildings. I just had one day in Sao Paulo and therefore only saw a small part of the city center. There are a lot pedestrian areas a nice cathedral and many shopping centers on Avenida Paulista.

Tip Photo
Rio de Janeiro

by Subria

Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world offering everything you need. A lively city center, nice beaches like Copacabana or Ipanema and great views from the mountains Sugar Loaf and Corcovado.

Tip Photo
Iguacu Falls

by Subria

Located between Argentina and Brazil the Iguacu Falls are one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. In the National Park on the brazilian Side there is a nice walk where you have a great view of the falls, because most of them are on the argentinian Side. Other options to visit the falls are by helicopter tours or small boats. You have easy access to the falls from the airport Foz do Iguacu with daily flights from Rio, Sao Paulo and Curitiba.
