This web-page helps you (better as the other one mentioned above, 'cause it includes all cities in Brazil ) to know which bus companies go to which places in Brasil and some countries like Argentina, etc. It's in portuguese but it's quite easy to use. You have to choose the names of origin and destiny cities. First select the state of the city you want to go from and to (selecione um estado) then you type in the city names , like for example "Rio de Janeiro" and Foz do Iguacu". Or you go on "Verificar" (verify) and type in just the first three letters of the city names, then you will get a selection of names. If there are direct buses between the 2 cities you get a screen with the names of the bus companies who has this destination on the schedules . Click in ( pre?os das passagens) to know the prices. Click in (horarios e frequencias ) for the schedules. If there aren't direct buses ( nenhum registro encontrado) you have to use another transportation tip. When renting a car in Brazil (quite expensive but highly recommended - especially in the Northeast!), be sure to have a detailled map of the area (the rental company will NOT provide you with such!). Brazilian direction signs are rare, distance informations are almost not existing. City limits are just indicated as "city limit" (40 km/h) not saying the name of the town (contrary to the anlongside shown sign - Brasilia might be the only exception). Therefore, you might not know where you actually are - especially in the countryside. Most cities have no by-pass - you'll have to go straight through it. If you are lucky, there are direction signs. Most city maps lack of detail - you'll soon get lost. Where to find maps: 1) on the website below (DNIT - Ministerio dos Transportes): pdf maps for each state (zoom in for more details!) 2) a free map comes with probably the best Brazil Guide: Guia Quatro Rodas (unfortunately just available in Portugues - but you'll understand what you need to know; completely revised every year; PLUS: info on the road conditions!; available at every newsstand or bookshop throughout Brazil) Leave a Comment

Especially for Europeans the Brazilian traffic signs can be confusing. For example the ban on passing (German: Ueberholverbot; Portuges: Proibido Ultrapassar) is different; and there is no sign for the end of the "no passing area". Check the DNIT (Ministerio dos Transportes) website below for details! Leave a Comment

The Brazil Air Pass offered by VARIG Airlines (member of the star alliance) and TAM is the most practical and economical way to travel within Brazil. Restrictions: Available only to foreigners and Brazilians residing abroad holding a round trip ticket to Brazil. Only one Air Pass per passenger. Renting a car in Brazil is quite expensive - but it is worth it! You are much more flexible. One way fees are quite high in Brazil. If you want to rent a car for a longer period than just for one or two days, prefer international rental companies. They have international standards and won't be tricky. If you have a digital camera, take pictures of the car right at the rental company - especially if there are already sctratches and dents (quite common!). This help if they want to hold you responsible for these damages. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Rio is serviced by a metro, although it currently does not reach deep into the most touristed zones of Copacabana and Ipanema. Tickets were 1.87 Reais as of October 2003 and the trains and stations are clean and safe. As with any subway, make sure you watch your valuables during the busier times. Leave a Comment

Taxis are the better way of getting around.Taxis in most cities are fitted with red numberplates and have fare meters. Though normally readily available, they can be difficult to find during lunchtime, the evening rush hour (from 16.30) and when it rains. Do not rely on taxi drivers knowing the major cities (especially outside the centre) well. Radio taxis can be booked in advance and while more expensive, offer a better service since their drivers usually know where they are going. Most of the main hotels have 24hour taxi ranks near by. Taxi Comuns are generally white in São Paulo, and yellow with blue stripes in Rio. Taxis de Luxo are larger, mostly air-conditioned, cars which cost about double the price of a Taxi Comun. Taxi fares for cabs hailed in the street are payable in accordance with the meter. All meters should now show the precise fare to be paid in local currency. Certain journeys (eg from hotel to airport) may be charged on a fixed-price basis, ask your hotel for advice. If your journey takes you away from the town centre, it is often best to ask the taxi to wait. Expect most drivers to treat you fairly but take extra care in Rio. Bear in mind that São Paulo and Rio are large cities and it can take much longer than you think to get around. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Naturally, since Quentin works for United, we flew... United! And I got to use his buddy passes (sometimes in the industry these drastically reduced tickets are referred to as BOOTY passes, cuz.. well, you use your own dirty mind... but those Airline Employees are very Scandalous... )) If first class is available, you can get upgraded as employees... This was my 1st time in 1st class on a 777 that had complete horizontal capabilty seats. Pls look. Even though the picture is kinda ghetto, i hope if you click on it.. and enlargen - you will see how far back they go. Amazing Comfort! The return flight I got Business and you would have thought I was in COACH the way I acted! ; ) Leave a Comment Theme: AirplanePhone: 800 241 6522

Once again, we had to leave Rio for the US via Sao Paulo, so we did the trip in reverse. SDU to CDH via GO airlines, a bus/shuttle to GRU, and then NOn-stop back to MIA. We love to fly and it shows! We have the passport stamps to prove it. I adore traveling with Quentin more than anyone else, too. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

So, Again, Flying is an option to get from Sao Paulo to Rio.. and when you are in a rush to get to Rio for Carnival, time is precious. We thought of taking the bus. We heard it took about five hours and cost pretty cheap, but we didn't want to waste the time on a bus since Carnival Awaited Us. Here is Q playing around w/ the Port-side engine. Kids... don't do this at home. This is Your Capt' Hexe speaking! Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
