Piriti Discoteque: Be prepared to dance the night away

by bevis58

Recently upgraded nightclub. Plays a nice variety of dance music with a very friendly staff. Plan on getting there late 12:00 or 12:30 and staying until you can't dance anymore. Nice VIP section slightly above the dance floor. Casual dress

Avenida Atamu Tekena, main street: Kari Kari Ballet at Easter Island

by Erikaperez

A very dynamic show where you will feel all the energy in the voices, instruments and dance of Ballet Kari Kari. I totally recommend this group because it is interesting and fun for all ages and it teaches you a lot of who Rapa Nui people are.I would also suggest this event for women groups who are getting to Easter Island because though both, men and women are very attractive, Rapa Nui men are very handsome and it is refreshing to see how these wonderful people are so interested in keeping their traditions, and all dance, play instruments and sing, offering a show of high quality.Price is about US$20 per person and add a bit more if you prefer first seats. You can also buy their CD or DVD at the end of the show and have your pictures taken with some of the dancers. Kari Kari it's a MUST SEE! Casual

Te Ra'ai Restaurant Etnico Rapa Nui: Ethnic Restaurant and Show

by kiwigal_1

While we were on Easter Island I really wanted to go to a traditional Rapa Nui culture show and dinner. We found out about Te Ra'ai and I was really pleased with our decision to go to this concert. Te Ra'ai is run by a husband and wife team on there home property and they employ about 10 performers to work with them. On arrival you make payment and are handed a drink and seated in the concert area. We were later than most of the other tourists so the show started almost immediately but I noticed that a few people had traditional face painting and so there must have been some kind of pre-show entertainment while people were arriving. The show was excellent. As a kiwi (someone from NZ) I felt quite at home with the music and dancing. What topped it all off was the Umu. Everyone was shepherded outside for the unveiling of the umu which was done ceremonially. An Umu is a traditional island...

Toroko Disco: be prepared for a fun night

by riocopa

me thinks the unltimate wekkend spot for locals and tourist alike, entrance fee consits of a lotto ticket being drawn at the end of the night and to my surprise i won a bottle of Barcardi, and the barman gives you a bottle of coke 6 cups with ice and tell me you will have many friends very soon, and as soon as i went outside the locals all offered me a seat and proceded to drink up till the sun came up,i think i got 1 drink out of it but had many laughs and made new friends, the so called disco is nothing more than a barn with tables on the sides, bar,dj and toilet, playing old music but had everyone up dancing all night none

Toroko Disco: Discotecas

A very fun night spot in Hanga Roa, filled with mostly locals who like to dance, eat drink and drink some more. I went to this place for my 31st birthday. I decided to order a local drink, so I ordered 1 Pisco. To my surprise the barman served me 1 bottle of Pisco. I took it back to the table and we drank it. Someone else bought one and we drank it, someone else bought another one and.....it was Sunday the sun was rising and my head was starting to hurt. No requirements, no problem. Don't over dress otherwise you will look like a rich tourist.

Hanga Roa Cinema: Watch Rapa Nui in Rapa Nui

by easyoar

There's a little cinema (well just a largish room actually) in Hanga Roa where several times a week they show the film Rapa Nui which is a Kevin Costner interpretation of Easter Island history. The film is not 100% accurate (as most Hollywood films seem not to be) and some of the acting is a little wooden, but it gives a good indication as to why they cut down all the trees on the island, and shows some of the horrors of the birdman race. Above all though, it is just enjoyable to watch the film where it was made! None

Hanga Roa Hotel: Traditional Easter Island Dance

by easyoar

A couple of days a week, there is a traditional dance in the Hanga Roa hotel. There is audience participation, so if you don't want to get invloved keep away from the front row! (Not that this did me any good!). It lasts around 75 mins as I remember, and is very good value compared to Tahiti or the Moari ones in New Zealand. None.

Nowhere: Nightlife? Forget it!!

by Claus_Qvist

Nightlife in Rapa Nui? You must be joking! The island holds 3000 inhabitants and all festivitas takes place at home with the family, leaving very little room for bars and discos. I don't even think there is a single bar in Hanga Roa........

The local Ballet Company...

by handsoum

The Rapa Nui Traditional Folklore Society will sing and dance for you at the main bar in Hanga Roa. They mimic Rapa Nui societal traditions and beliefs through their dances and beautiful songs. This is not just another Polynesian dansing show; the performers are genuinely enjoying themselvs and it shows; they were 20 and we were 6 in the audience... They perform 6 feet away from you and will invite you up to dance with them. The Rapa Nui women have a very special charm and they will certainly have an effect on you, whether you are a man or a woman. I admit getting a little scared when the men performed the warrior dances however... As an experienced London ballet-goer, I can only say I was very impressed by the excellence of this show. No Dress Code.

Few Nightlife...

Few places to go, otherwise you´re not looking for that in this peaceful island. But you can share good times with the travellers in Te Moana (greetings to the young and pretty owner girl), in the Aloha (greetings also to the young owner couple), or the Banana, a bar with pool tables (also more greetings to Tarita, the daughter´s owner). After that friday´s and saturday´s there´s a disco "Toroko´s"...Nice staff, a good place to dance Suk (Tahitian music)....
