Pay with Pesos!!

by deanna0810

All the food we had on Easter Island was sensational if a little on the expensive side. My big tip is to pay for your meal in chillean pesos. it will end up costing heaps less than if you pay in $US. My husband and i call it Easter Island Chicken. It is chicken breast grilled with a heap of garlic with lemon juice added at the end to deglaze the pan. Gorgeous!

La Taverne du Pecheur: Mouth watering island food

by awayforaweek

This wonderful ocean front restaurant offers this remote island some wonderful culinary tastes. The food is a variety of seafood, local and french cuisine. The crepes for dessert are to die for. Have a wonderful plate of seafood freshly caught that day. If you are lucky and get there early enough, you will see the fishing boats bringing in your catch at around 4:00pm..... The presentation is wonderful, the beer or wine selection is great and the view if seated by the window of the sunset, Moai and fishing boats is spectacular. Any Seafood dish. The Crepes for dessert.......

Seafood, the best bet.

In the island, your main food source will be the sea. The culinary characteristics of the kitchen Rapa Nui, convert sea food, in an exquisite plate even for the most demanding in the palates. Any plate is a good choice.

The hotel where we stayed: we had no choice - there was only chicken

by margaretvn

When we were on the island, there were not many places to eat and we ate in the hotel restaurant. Each evening there was the choice of chicken, chicken or chicken.p.s. we ate chicken - but I think it died of old age as it was so tough!!

LA TAVERNE DU PECHEUR: LA TAVERNE DU PECHEUR

by tenorsax

As I mentioned before... if you are visiting Easter Island and, at the same time, you are trying to save money, you are with the wrong mental attitude :)Easter Island is NOT cheap. So, relax and use your money what is for... ENJOY LIFE as it is!!Indulge yourself and eat one night at the delicious LA TAVERNE DU PECHEUR located at Caleta de Pescadores. Its owner, a Normandy's big and proud chef will delight you with the perfect blend between french cuisine and local food. Have a wonderful Rape Rape (a little kind of lobster) or Tuna with seafood sauce matched with the right chilean wine and you will not regret paying the bill. Rape Rape (Easter Island's Lobster)

EL CUERITO REGALON: EL CUERITO REGALON

by tenorsax

Another good restaurant I enjoyed during my visit to Easter Island is El Cuerito Regalón. If you feel like having a good Tuna dish at an reasonable price, this is the place. Tuna 'a la plancha' with tomato and avocado salad.

The hotel restaurant may be...

The hotel restaurant may be only one of two restaurant in town. The hotel restaurant has two menus, lobster and chicken. When they give you the chicken menu, you may only order chicken. When they give you the lobster menu, you may only order lobster. One of the locals told me (and my Spanish is almost nil so pardon the translation) that there was beef many years ago but all the cows got eaten so no more beef for Easter Island.

Ra'a: Good food, small portions

by Lunaina

One of two places on Easter Island where you can get real coffee. We went for dinner here, the food is good, but the portions are rather small. Service is good, English is poorly spoken.

Te Moana: Very groovy scene, great food

by knowtoryous

Renee and his beautiful wife Carolina own the best place in Hanga Roa town. Wonderful cerviches and local food with a cool pub scene at night. We spent New Year's here and it couldn't have been beat.

La Taverne du Pecheur: Fantastic Fish and French food

by seamus_waldr

Down by the harbour in town, this resturant isn't exactly the cheapest, but boy is the food good. Wonderfull ambience and surroundings. the owner is friendly and full of life. An absolute must.
