Rent a car/4x4. Petrol isn;t too expensive as it is subsidised by the Chilean government. The cost is about $50 a day and YOU DO NOT GET AND CANNOT GET insurance.
There are enough Taxi around to get you to most places. You can also rent a car for about $50-60 day. A mountian bike cost $10 a day. I am not sure about Motorcycle, but you can rent one also.
LanChile is the only airline to the Easter Island. The flight from Santiago, Chile is about 5 hours. As I am writing this tip, flights leave Chile on Wed and Sun. Return flights are Thurs and Sat.
You can rent a horse or rent a tour guide (who has a truck). If you stay in town, you can walk. You can also walk to the airport if your suitcase is not too heavy.
We flew from Tahiti to Easter Island and when we went there were only flights a couple of times a week. It was a stopover on the way to Santiago Chile.
