Maipo Things to Do

  • The winery

The wine production hall seems to be an old building, but it isn't. It was really surprising that everything and all was built in old style. This hall looks like the old factory halls we have in Europe .... and which were built at the beginning of the industrial revolution in the mid 19th century. So don't believe someone who says that this are old...

  • The museum

The winery also has its own museum, which shows the history of the winery and the owner familiy. Further you can see interesting details and exponates about chilenian viticulture but also history of viticulture in general. You will get infos where wine originally comes from, how it came to Chile, and, and, and ....Very interesting! The building in...

  • The winery inside ...

And if you look inside the hall, you will only see modern stainless steel tanks and iron ....It looks less romantic but it is absolutely necessary to make good and clean wine! So, that is not a fake ....:-))

These are the caves. Guess how many barrels they have.. Hmmm, what do you think? 500 or 1000?? No, there are more than 5000 ! barrels there. It was unbelievable when comparing with Austria ....

The barrels (barriques) are all filled with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere, Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc and each barrique contents 225 litres.

And if you thought that the cave is an old one then you are wrong, because ... right ... it's a FAKE again .....

We also had a wine tasting and a dinner. It was typically chilenian with assado (which is a south american barbecue) and much wine, and of corse all from the winery. And all that took place in the park and a wonderful area, which could not more beautiful ....

The reason why I put it into the "warning & dangers" section is because if you eat and drink too much you can feel sick then ... So take care...

And in the park there are some great statues. These statues are really rather old and they are no fake! The owner bought them from Italy. But don't ask me about the details, our guide was not able to say them!

But these statues are so beautiful that someone can get mad of them ... like me... because I really FALL IN LOVE with them...

you can see that on the picture

The winery and the guest house is surrounded with a great park. There are many old trees, some wonderful palm trees and green meadows. It looks so peaceful and silent here and I really enjoyed it !!

Just click on the picture to see the park and the guest house ....
