    None, nothing, NADA

by IIGUANA Written Jun 17, 2004

There are no restaurants in the canyon u high. In fact, there are no bathrooms either. So if you want to eat something, your last stop will be right before the road ends and the dust begins. There are 2 little kiosks where you can find empanadas, biscuits, sodas and some other stuff. So if you're hungry, eat something before going up. Don't do it like I did. No comments...

  • Empanadas for the return

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

After a whole day (or a weekend, or a week, or a month...) of climbing peaks and braving the ice in the many peaks of inner Cajon del Maipo, it's customary to stop for a couple of Chilean empanadas for lunch/afternoon tea at some of the roadside places where they are brought hot from the earth ovens where they are cooked. This is great for the winter's cold, and good as well for any season's afternoon.

Favorite Dish: The Chilean empanada is typical kind of local food.
There are empanadas made of pino (ground meat and fried onion), cheese or seafood, and prices are around $ 400 (US$ 0,65) each.
Add to this something to drink, and your "mountaineer's rebirthing" experience should be complete...especially in winter.
