They call themselves Arte Bar and I think it’s a very appropriate definition! It’s not only a bar where you can drink and eat – it’s also an art gallery specialized in photography. Walls are always full of interesting pictures. It’s also a place where you can listen to live music. Concerts in La Casa en el Aire are every day, except Wednesdays. Live music starts at 10:30 pm (Fridays and Saturdays one hour later). Wednesday is usually dedicated to literature, with young poets and writers presenting their work. And they are serving Paceña and Kunstmann - two brands of very good beer! And vines from famous chilean Concha y Torro and Undurraga wineyards!

There is no particular dress requirements.

Without any doubt it’s my favourite place in Santiago. When I am in that city you can find me here almost every night! Thanks to Manuel and Marcelo (father and son), the owners of the place, Dos Gardenias has a unique atmosphere. And they are serving a very tasteful Caipirinha and the best Mojito in the town! Bolivian beer Paceña is also a very good pick! As well as the good choice of Chilean wines! Dos Gardenias is basically a Cuban bar – almost every night you can hear here a very good live music, very often Cuban style. Or Brazilian or Chilean… Anyway good music! So good that it’s not unusual that people starts to dance between tables! It’s also a meeting place of young people of Santiago and expats, or Spanish language students. For me a visit there is a must!

    As you like!

    Streetmachine: Electronic music in Santiago
  • Tip Rating:
  • Electronic music is quite big here in Santiago. There are different places where you can go, but if you want to enjoy big parties and good DJ's, I'd recommend you to visit the website streetmachine.cl. This guys are the ones that organize huge electronic parties in Santiago. They're all over the place, and in their website you can find what DJ is coming over and where is the party. DJ's like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and Jay XL have come because of these guys, so it's worth to take a look at their website.

    Wear whatever you like.

estadio nacional: Concerts in the football station
  • Tip Rating:
  • It has been the most wonderful concert I´ve ever been. In memory of Che Guevara some of the most famous singers came to Santiago to give a very special concert. The main act was SILVIO RODRIGUEZ, and this was amazing!!!! All the maybe 40000 people in the stadion knew the texts and did sing with him. Very very impressing.

one of Silvios songs, one of my favorites: Mi Unicornio Azul Silvio Rodriguez Mi unicornio azul ayer se me perdio, pastando lo deje y desaparecio.

Alto del Naranjo, on the trail...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Alto del Naranjo, on the trail up to Cerro Provincia, at 1877 meters above sea level. An amazingly peaceful and almost out-of-this-world place: quiet, fragrant from country flowers and plants, snow-covered in winter, a great overlook to watch fireworks down at the city on special days or just to tumble down on the ground, covered by a blanket of stars, and see the Moon appear slowly from behind the massive Andean mountains (but if you go in winter, I recommend to add a tent or, at least,a good sleeping bag to that star blanket)

Casual, o'course. Typical dress code is mountaineers's gear: long sleeved shirt and pants in summer; parka, gloves, balaclava, PolarFleece pants, hiking boots and a warm sleeping bag in winter. In daytime in summer, shorts and t-shirt are fine.
