  • Located in this neighborhoods: Downtown, Providencia, Bellavista, Costanera, Suecia, El Golf, El Bosque, Isidora Goyenechea, Las Condes, Vitacura, BordeRío.

Pastel de Choclo, Empanadas, Asados and Parrilladas, Humitas, Carnes y Mariscos, Pisco Sour and, of course, chilean wine, the best in the world.
Chilean food has an international flavor, without hard flavors of mexican or peruvian cuisine.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Wow! There are a lot.
Chinese food: Lung Foo (Agustinas con Mac Iver)
    International: Tragaluz (Barrio Bellavista)
Peruvian Food: El Otro Sitio (Barrio Bellavista) and Puerto Perú
    Italian food: Trattoria Rossati
Chilean food: La Vaquita Echa (Pirque)
    etc...
Lung Foo: Its expensive (US$15 each one) but the food is excellent. The atmosfere is unique. You'll feel transported to another dimension: the chinese dimension.
Contraluz:(US$15 - 25 each one) small, romantic but not too much. I think they have the right balance for 2 or 4 or 6 person...
El otro sitio: expensive but a good place to talk. Don't forget to drink Pisco sour.
Puerto Perú: affordable. the ceviche, pisco sour and the fish in any way are good. (The picture is showing this nice restaurante)
Trattoria Rossati: Hide in the downtown. It's open from monday to friday during the day. Excellent!!
    La Vaquita Echá: so typical

I've been in those more than once and I haven't tasted anything bad.

    Cafe Central
  • Satisfaction:
  • Cafe Central is a lovely place in the downtown area. It was right beside our hotel, Residencial Londres, on the scenic cobblestoned Calle Londres, and had a simple menu, with nice breakfast and snack options. They also let us use their internet for free!

If you are a hotel guest, the cost of your dinner, no matter which of the five restaurants you eat at, is included in your package. A brief description of the choices:
    Italian--Don Giovanni
    French--Fourchette D'Or
    Chilean--Cafe de la Plaza
    Swiss--Montagnard
    International--Americatessenr />
Of these, the Italian is the most sought after. If you really want to have dinner there, make your booking the day before.

The food at all these outlets is good, but not spectacular. For example, the chese fondue at the Swiss restaurant is tasty enough, but it's just a bit too thick. So buy a bottle of white wine and dump some in to thin it out.

Speaking of wine, Chile is justly famous for its reds. Make sure to try some. Don't worry if you can't finish up that second bottle before the end of the evening--they'll put it away for you and you can have it served to you the next day at dinner, regardless of which restaurant you choose.
