Valle Nevado is a top notch place to snowboard. If you are from the northern hemisphere of the world like I am, you will find it very difficult to snowboard in August. But true snowboarders will follow the snow. That means going to the southern hemisphere of the world to find that awesome sweet spot. It is a place called Valle Nevado that is located an hour and a half bus ride away from Santiago, Chile. And let me tell you that the runs are awesome.

top notch skiing for July / August.. We were there one day.. a fog settled in... (pictures to come soon)... you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you... had one day of slushy wet snow... then it froze overnite.. ice all day.. then the following day got dumped on with 8" of powder.. The last few days were decent from that & the machines as well...

La Mumia Black Run

Once you make it to Valle Nevado make sure to ski and snowboard according to your level. If you are a novice choose the green runs. If you are moderately good choose the green and red runs. If you are an expert go down the black runs. Don't be that foolish one that goes down a black run and it is only your first or second time skiing/snowboarding.

There is a run in Valle Nevado that is really awesome for snowboarding. It is like a natural half pipe and is actually a crevasse cut into the mountain that is covered with snow. It is a little off the trail but no so much that you will find yourself in the middle of nowhere once you get to the bottom. It actually empties out into one of the main routes, a green run, called Camino Bajo. Just start out at the top of Camino Bajo and you will see it on your left. Take a chance! You just might have some fun.
