The Goberment did not approve a bridge to cross to Chiloe Island , with great dissapointed of the "Chilotas", for this reason it is necessary to to go to Pargua and to take a ferry up to Chacao (30 min ) service around the clock

    By ferry from the mainland

There are no flights and no roads to Chiloe from the mainland, meaning the only means of reaching the island is by boat. The easiest crossing is south of Puerto Montt, where regular ferries make the 30 minute crossing. If you travel by bus, the cost of the ferry will usually be included in your ticket. The ferry lands in the north of the island, about 30km north of the nearest big town, Ancud. there are also ferries from Chaiten, further south near the Carretera Austral, but these take longer and are much less frequent.
