Volcan Puyehue can be climbed by any reasonably fit person provided the weather is good. It is not that high at 2200m and the trip up to the refugio can be done no horseback. Once at the refugio one is halfway up the mountain. I actually recommend taking a horse as the climb to the refugio is long and steep.

From the refugio the footpath up the mountain is quite easy to follow. Do not attempt this mountain in bad weather - it can kill! In fair weather, though, it is relatively easy. Beware of getting to close to the edge of the crater, the rocks are not stable and falling into the crater will certainly be the last thing you do.

This lovely waterfall is right next to the road between Anticura and the border post. All you have to do is stop and walk down to the river, not more than 100m. The waterfall is in the Golgol river which drains into Lake Puyhue near Entrelagos.

This pleasant hike starts almost right next to the entrance to the Salto El Indio hike in sector Anticure, PN Puyehue. It goes past an amazing blue river, past a small waterfall plunging into a blue pool to the Salto LaPrincesa, a somewhat scary thundering fall. Here we saw a torrent duck swimming in the white water in the waterfall.

The best time of day for this hike would be around mid day if you wish to take photos as most of it is in a rather narrow gorge with little sunlight.
