Favorite thing: La Universidad Austral de Chile (or Austral University) is the local university. It is located on Isla Teja just across the bridge from the main center.

The university is strong in agriculture, horticulture, botany, forestry careers and has its own botanical gardens which are free to stroll around.

Fondest memory: I remember coming to Austral University a couple of times to speak with staff and students of the Animal Production faculty for discussions on pastures, dairying and beef production.

Crossing River for Best Brewery in Chile

Favorite thing: Kunstmann Brewery is located in Valdivia and they have the best beer in Chile. Funny thing is I don't remember getting there, but I do remember leaving. A taxicab is your best option. The seafood market is also a must see especially if you like fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish and "walruses". But people don't eat the "walruses", just feed them and take lots of pictures.

Fondest memory: See, I saw the first "walrus" while walking over the bridge and it really surprised me. Then I notice that the whole riverside is full of them trying to scavenge scraps from the vendors.

So they were sea lions, I suppose my flora is better than my fauna.
