Larrañaga is a good car hire company in Chillan. We rented a nice Chevrolet Aveo for 4 days from them, at a cost of 25000 per day with unlimited kilometres. They were a friendly and efficient company and we had no problems at all with the car.

GranHotel Gift Shop

The gift shop was directly off the lobby at the Gran Hotel. Since high season at the resort is in the winter for skiing many items were discounted when we visited. They had postcards, men, women and children's attire, jewelry, leather products, glassware, etc.

Although many shopkeepers speak English, it wasn't the case here. I did the best with my Spanish, but didn't do well enough to put my questions across so my daughter-in-law came to my rescue! It was very convenient to have a gift shop here since town was at least 1 l/2 hrs. away.

What to buy: Souvenirs, clothing not in season--they're discounted!

What to pay: A bit above average if in season
