The heated water from the Tatio geysers flows into a type of natural swimming pool. Everybody enjoys a nice dip.

The geysers at Tatio are the Chilean version of Old Faithful at Yellowstone. But there are several geyers in a compact area. Get there at sunrise when they are the most active.

You can take the funicular to the top of Cerro San Cristobal which is the highest point in Santiago, for a spectacular view of the city. A roundtrip ticket cost 1200 peso.

When I visited this place, Chile was celebrating its independence day. There is a big cathedral and quite old buildings around the area.
