MEDELLIN
When travelling through these regions of South America carry and drink plenty of fresh bottled drinking water...Especially if you go to altitude ..this is most important.... Dehydration in summer months can become a problem so make sure that you drink lots of water.
BEWARE when purchasing your bottled water!! ...make sure that the "seal" bottle cap is not broken...and the bottle has been filled with local tap water. This can create lots of problems as I found out...

This being my first time to Medellin, l felt very safe. Although the girls l stayed with did tell me to be careful when talking photographs, like most cities all over the world you must be be aware of your surroundings and keep your personal belongings in a safe place. Nothing bad happened to me but l did feel in some places a little insecure especially crowded areas where pick pockets are active. Medellin has to be one of the most beautiful places l have visited in South America. The people are friendly and helpful, and the kids try to practice their english language skills on you. I loved the people, the culture and the food. It is no doubt a place l would like to visit again and again. Police are active almost everywhere, and in some places you will find people begging or wanting to be your tour guide like a little kid l came across when l visited a poor area north of the centre. Apart from that and the begging l experienced nothing but delight in this beautiful city.
