by whycolombia Updated Apr 3, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cartagena it's a romantic place at night. Most of the people like to walk along the avenue by the beach. If you want to enjoy your walk, we recomend that you always go with your family, your friends or a guide. If you get lost, go inmediatly to find a policeman, he can give you help anytime.

The historic area of Cartagena does not have a Post Office. What they have are these robbing bastards. The ***es working there made me pay them $3.50 for every postcard to friends and family. the most expensive in the world. They indicated they were too busy to put the stamps on them and I was in too much of a hurry to get a receipt.

    Big mistake.

The evil ***es kept the money and the cards were never seen again. When I look back I should have thought it was all wrong. It was. Luckily as I couldn't afford the postage I kept a lot of the cards and posted them form Miami. All those got there!

So before you get robbed - just post them from an honest postal service in another country.

Be VERY careful when you choose a travel agent to buy tours from. My father, his wife and his friend got ambushed during a tour!!! Apparently it is not the first time something like this happens during a tour sold by LOS PINOS ECOTRAVEL. 5 men wearing ski masks jumped into the water, surrounding the boat, they had machetes and stole a considerable ammount of valuables. Fortunately nobody got physically hurt.
What's worse is that the owner of the agency (Mr. Jaramillo) is shirking all responsibility, it seems that his company has no insurance.
The press picked it up - here is the article.
