"Puente de Boyaca" ( Boyaca Bridge)

by OurColombia Updated Apr 29, 2003

7 August 1819, Colombian troops directed by General Bolivar and General Francisco de Paula Santander began the liberation of Colombia from the Spanish King. It’s the most important battle in this process of liberation from the Spanish.

In the same year the first Council was created; named “Angostura”. And then created LA GRAN COLOMBIA the first time that Colombia was used as the name.
In this place you can see the great monument where the battle between Simon Bolivar’s army and Spanish took place.
You can see the stone and the Colombia Flag, eternal fire, and the original small colonial bridge, that stands as a reminder of this battle.

Unique Suggestions: It is a place to stop, take pictures, relax, have a drink and something to eat.
