    What to Bring

Luggage and bags: If possible, leave your luggage in Riohacha (as I did) and travel to La Guajira only with a small backpack where you put things that you'll need for your trip.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: La Guajira is desert-like area on the Carribbean, where the temperatures can get really high, so bring light clothes (shorts and t-shirts), and a pair of long trousers and sweater for the cold and windy nights. There are places that are just best explored by walking so you'll need a pair of good walking shoes or tennis. Most of the time you'll be under direct sun and wearing a hat is a very good idea.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: There is no pharmacy around so make sure you take first aid with you. Bring towels and toiletries (soap, deodorant, toothpaste, refreshing towels), and a lot of sun protection. Also take along mosquito repellant.

Photo Equipment: Take all photography and filming accessories with you. And don't forget spare batteries for your camera since most of the places has no electricity, so there will be no way to charge your batteries.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Bring a lot of water, some snacks and fruit, garbage bags, flashlight and hammock (or rent one). Don't forget your swimwear, sun glasses, a pair of flip-flops and sarong to lye on it while you relax on the beach. It also comes handy in chilly nights, in case you did not bring a sheet or sleeping bag.

Miscellaneous: There is no bank or ATM in Cabo de la Vela. The nearest place to get the money is in Riohacha and Uribia. Local shops offer local and national calls.
