  • IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING IN COLUMBIA FOR A PERIOD OF TIME I WOULD RECOMMEND BUYING A LARGE CONTAINER OF BOTTLED WATER. WE BOUGHT ONE THAT WAS PROBABLY AROUND 15 GALLONS. YOU DON'T WANT TO DRINK THE TAP WATER AND BE CAREFUL WHEN SHOWERING NOT TO DRINK ALOT OF THE SHOWER WATER. FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES AND YOU SHOULD BE SAFE. ALSO CARRY ALONG WITH YOU TO COLUMBIA PEPTO BISMAL AND IMMODIUM AD. IT WILL HELP YOU IN CASE YOU GET SICK.

  • IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE TAXIS, PLEASE DONT TAKE THEM IN THE ROAD, YOU CAN CALL TO CENTRAL BASES, ITS SAFER AND THE PRICES ARE THE SAME.

  • beware of the traffic... that's it. nothing else to be afraid of. honest to god. it's suggested not to go to el centro dressed in too fancy clothes, but this is not a real danger. perhaps it's wise not to bring a bag, just not to tempt any potential robbers, but none of the people i know have ever had any problems there. just always keep an eye on your things.

Like in many other tourist places of the 3rd world, there are lots of beggars, who will start being your guide before you notice, and will not leave before you have given them some money.
