First thing you need to know about Capurgana is that this is a tiny place, this is not a 70 mile beach like South Beach to West Palm Beach or the Australian Gold Coast. Here you just walk! Let's start north. Two options, short walk to "Gods Pool" or long walk to La Miel via Sapzurro. To the Gods Pool just follow the trail where the main beach ends. You won't get lost! At a rock formation and if the waves are strong enough a safe salt water pool forms, enjoy! Do not wander towards the strong surf. It is dangerous!!!! To Sapzurro start at the football field and follow the left street towards the mountains (not the trail parallel to the airport), just ask. Now South. Start at Las Mañanitas hotel and continue along the pebble beach. Stop and take a refreshing bath at the river (100% pure water). About 300 ft after the river you have two options, the sea trail or the jungle trail. don't worry, both will join again further south. They join at a small pebble beach where the surf is strong. If you are a good swimmer try the northern side of the beach, do not try the southern side or you will end up mauled by the rocks (it happened to me!). Continue south until you reach tiny ecotourist cabins where a beer is waiting for you. There's a small waterfall nearby, ask for directions. Now West! wait for episode II... Capurgana West!

Cabo Tiburn

If you go to Sapzurro... you have to get to Panama at least for a little while!

There's a little trail going up the hill that heads to La Miel, the first village in the Panama's side. You need to carry an ID if you want to cross the border... even though that's not a custom office, there's a little militar check point at the very top of the hill.

La Miel is even smaller than Sapzurro... they share both sides of Cabo Tiburon, the very end of the Caribbean Sea in the south west.

You'll see some soldiers around and it may seem to be a dirty little place... but once you leave the village behind and you walk towards the the cape... the beach is just amazing. White sand and clear water with tiny little fishes swimming all around your legs... gorgeous!

Sapzurro from the boat, you can't even see it!

Once you are in Capurgana... you can take a "panga" (a very little boat) a go visit Sapzurro.

That is the last village before getting into Panama. It's even smaller than Capurgana, but with a nicer beach and better places for snorkeling.

It's just another face of paradise!
