If this is your first trip to Cartagena you will be amazed at the amount of street vendors trying to sell you beer, water, braid your hair, massage, tee-shirts, jewels, lotto tickets etc. It can wear you down saying no constantly. My advice is just to ignore them. I stick out like a sore thumb and am constantly targeted. Beware of men trying to give you a history of the site your looking at for money, again just ignore them or if they don't go away a firm NO usually helps. You will also come across a lot of beggars especially if your leaving a church or anywhere there are crowds. Again ignore them and although it's a horrible way to treat a person as they are human and extremely poor. You can't help everyone. In the picture l have posted you will see guys in a rowing boat. They usually pull up to the tourist boats going to the Islands either to sell you something or just to beg.
