Have you ever been in an all-eyes-on situation? It happens here in Ibague, if they notice that you're an odd-one-out, a foreigner will be targeted....both by the criminals, pick-pockets or even the guarilla. Actually, it's not that bad though just keep a good look at your belongings, showing off your camera or other personal gadgets is not a very smart thing to do, unless you're going with a large group of people.
If you're lucky (?) you'll see is the police carrying guns around (some even has a rifle!!) and run after a certain group of people, beating or even shooting -- for security reasons. They might ask for your passport if they suspect you for drug smuggling. But don't let this spoil your holiday, just stay out of the situation and everything should be just fine. The best is to have a couple of Colombiano friends with you, they'd know exactly what to do.
Anyway, solo travelling is not a good option in this country -- this is final
