I love photography as an art form. The likes of Mapplethorpe, Avedon ,Newton and Brandt come to mind. But here in La Candelaria, Bogota I came across the works of a great South American photographer in this gallery in Bogota. Leo Matiz was born in the same town as Garcia Marquez and is known for his photographs of Frida Kahlo but especially for his iconic photograph titled "The Fisherman ". If you click through the link...look for this photo under Macondo.
Early in December, Colombians start off the Christmas season with a night of candles and fireworks. Christmas lights start to show up as early as November 1 but at the Feast of the Imaculate Conception they come out in force. Every street light is adorned with stars of a christmas tree, and the Mountians are capped with huge stars.
Even beter people come outside to light candles, In front of their houses, on the street corners, at their stores. Every park is filled with kids and candles and every apartment has candles or Lanterns.
