Pigalom's General Tip

In Colombia you often meet extremely hospitality. But also agression. You can say its normal to talk to strangers here(but its very difficult to sort out who is having good intension and who is having bad). Cartagena(north-west) is a must-see. And Santa-Marta with its beautifull national park. Up in the north you find the desert area La-Guahira. This is worth checking out.

Every one will tell you about...

by cochinjew

Every one will tell you about the dangerous situation in the country. The cities I visited: Medellin, Cartagena and Bogota, I did not feel threatened or unduly unsafe. The eternal primavera of Medellin. the presence of Fernando Botero in his city. timeless villages like Fredonia of Antioquia. Paisanos. The joy of the people. The caribbean mixture of the people in the north. The best preserved colonial city ( after Habana of course) is Cartagena de las Indias. Gabo's presence felt in Cartagena

Everybody in the world is warning you from going to Colombia. Just today a danish newspapers is writing abou a dane kidnaped in Colombia. And the EU just resently made a visum law for colombians coming to Europe. But the war zone areas is not all of Colombia. The different parts in the different wars in Colombia, FARC, the military, ELN, the paramilitary groups and the coke manufactorers are not the only people in Colombia. Millions of people lives there and they need our attention. One way you can show them, that Colombia is still a part of the world map is to visit some of the safe areas. The City Cartagena is one of them. And when you come there you will find people welcoming you as someone special. They say thank you for entering their country and they invite you to their homes and help you with almost everything.Going to the Caribeans or to Latin America without going to Colombia...

by Princess2000

This is Cucunubá, a beautiful small town located one hour and a half away from Bogota. It´s all painted in white with green roofs and you can almost 'touch' the peace and inviting environment of its old houses surrounded by mountains. This pictures were taken last weekend when I went with my friends to the hotel Don Pedro, a very fancy location, old fashion decorated with that special touch of ancient memories and good taste all around it.

It´s difficult to pick one single remarkable activity when you visit Colombia... there are so many landscapes and climates to enjoy.Try the colorful cities in the northern coast and feel the caribbean spirit; enjoy Cartagena and its historic sites; share the green in the mountains around Bogota and Medellin, find the beauty of the Cauca river valley and find the best salsa dancers and enjoy the warmth of Cali; visit the Parque Nacional del Café and Panaca to discover the coffee culture and national pride; go in a trip adventure around the amazon river in the south east and bring your bag full of colorful handcrafts from Boyaca and Nariño... Colombia has got everything for you to have a pleasant stay with the most important ingredient: the friendliness and warmt of its people.

Vivid memories seem to come back, as I remember walking down the street in the capital, Bogota. The surrounding mountain tops and green valleys stand out with much definition. The people were extremely friendly and beautiful. (The men here are beautiful!) This country has one of the oldest surviving of the first Indian colonies to settle within Latin America. Although, the Colombian culture seems to be overshadowed by political and drug problems. I had a great time exploring the streets and buildings of Colombia. I highly recommend travel to this overlooked country.

Everything: a 7-day walkingtrip to Ciudad Perdida, canoing in the Amazon basin, scuba diving in the Carribean, enjoying a real colombian barbeque, a visit and dive into the mudvolcanoes. There is so much to do/see and if you like to travel in an non- tourist oriented country, then you should come to Colombia I really enjoyed the mentality of the colombian people, despite all the major problems this country faces, the people are happy, there are parties and bbq all night long.
