I almost got fool and bought those perfumes that were incredible cheap, then I realize that were knock offs. If you think the deal is too good to be true, it is because they are knock offs or cheap quality stuff.
We were to take a taxi tour of the island. Among the things we were supposed to see were
* El Hoyo Soplador or Blow Hole a a sea water geyser at the southern end of San Andrés
* La Cueva De Morgan or Morgan's Cave - a sea cave which is a popular attraction due to the natural effects and the treasure legend
We were also supposed to stop for Duty free shopping for many items, including emeralds from Colombia and to have a drink.
However, the weather was so bad that we didn't want to stop and shop, nor did we want to go into Morgan's Cave which apparently is really cheesy anyway. And there was no surf at all so there was no water in the blow hole.
The taxi did not apparently have any kind of defroster, and we had to keep the windows closed because of the rain. So the windows fogged up - the driver (and I) kept clearing the window off with his hand so he could see, but that resulted in as many water drops inside windshield as outside from the rain. Also my glasses and my camera lens also kept fogging up, and that made it difficult to focus.
In better weather the phrase of interest was
"The air conditioning works best when the windows are open and the taxi is moving".
This is just a warning, because at no time do I feel that we were in any danger. There are some locals that hang out around the resort areas, such as the man in this picture, who want your money. They all have something to offer you for it, but you may not always know what you are agreeing to. Remember, if someone want's to give you some coconut milk, or let you hold their bird to have your picture taken, they are going to want money from you afterwards. Always be sure to agree on a price first if you want what they are offering, nothing is free!! These locals are few and far between but they are there, don't let them influence your opinion of the general population.
It is a big problem and everybody knows by now, the sea is gettin empty of wild life, usually local people is poor and tourists are rich, you buy, you pay, you have money, but be clair do not buy this kind of souvenirs,, tell them this is not good bussiness, when they are alive it is good busines, dead is bad business for all.
