Going dancing in San Andres: Extasis Disco

by oyesabesque Written May 2, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We went there and it was very fun. You shouldnt go by yourself, we went with a cool guy called Diego, we contacted him at the Decameron San Luis Lobby, and he takes you in a pick up truck, and he checks if the disco is good or not... other friends of mine went by themselves, paid the entrance fee and the disco was empty!!!

Bars, restaurants, casinos and discotheques, all filled with magic an excitement to light us the San Andrés nights. In the native districts the Islanders bring out potent sound equipment and hold dances in the streets. In high season concerts are organized on the beach with local reggae, calypso and folkloric groups. There are many night clubs where you can dance and anjoy a tropical night full of fantasy.

When we are walking around the beach at nights is the most beautiful experience because you can see the sun set very far but very close to our feelings. The stars are always in movement in the sky; The wind is cool and It is touching your skin and your hair.
The night little animals are all the time singing your own expressions and our soul is doing the choir.
The air is perfect because we can feel our chest full of energy and our body feels free...

    General Recomendation about Nightlife

by colombiaalive Updated Apr 7, 2003

In San Andres you can take a chiva tour around the island. A chiva is a typical and special bus without doors and windows. It is common that inside the chiva a papayera band play folkloric music. During the tour people usually drink aguardiente (a sugar cane-distiller drink), sing, dance and jump. The tour usually ends in a disco where you can dance some typical rhythms like reggae music, tropical music and vallenato music. You can dance at the disco until 5:00 a.m. in the morning.
If you don’t like discos so much but you can listen to and dance typical music, you can contract a vallenato group and dance in the beach. If you like you can drink in the beach too.
But, if you prefer more pacific activities you can walk around the beach and enjoy looking the stars in the sky.
