Various: Typical food names

by Juan_Gmo

One of the best aspectos of Colombia is its fantastic, tasty and hearty food. Forget McDonalds or other worldwide chains, they are much more expensive and you´d miss the real flavor. Just follow locals and ask for prices beforehand. Ask for these plates: In Bogota: "Ajiaco" (A-hee-a-co)In Medellin and Coffe Area: "Bandeja Paisa" (Bahn-the-ha - Pie-sa)In Valle "Sancocho" (San-coh-tscho)In Caribbean "Cazuela Mariscos" (Kah-sue-lah-the-mah-rees-cohs)

Tricky pic... sushi in the Zona Rosa of Bogota, just to show you can eat 'international food' with a latin heart! Anyway if you have a stong stomach, go for 'la bandeja paisa', pretty typical food from the 'paisa' part of the country, and don't leave the country without tasting one of the best 100% colombian coffee, even if you don't like coffee...

Il Pomodorri: Il Pomodorri

by Robin26

Il Pomodorri represents some of the best aspects of restaurants in Bogota. It is quite pricey... about US$30 per person for three courses with wine (for Bogota this is expensive!). The service is impeccable and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is very cosy in the evening but the restaurant has a terrace which is great for Sunday afternoons. Spagetti con Salmon and the Carpaccio are some of the highlights for me.

The variety of restaurants, cafés, bars and nightclubs of Santa Fe de Bogotá is almost inexhaustible. Numerous restaurants offer excellent local cuisine, not only from the capital city but also from various regions of the country. Several restaurants function in antique colonial-style houses which are worth visiting for themselves. Notable, among others, are those that belong to the Casa Vieja chain, the Zaguán de las Aguas, and the restaurants which function in the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions and in the house of the Marqués de San Jorge. But Santa Fe de Bogotá is also distinguished for its variety of restaurants offering international cuisine, with dishes from all over the world. A multitude of bars and cafés from small ones to the most elegant and sophisticated establishments, invite you to enjoy drinks accompanied by music. A good spot to dine, have some drinks and perhaps...

In the upper floor of the World Trade Center in Bogota there is a restaurant La Fragata. This is one of the best seafood restaurants anywhere in the world. It is a must for seafood lovers. The restaurant rotates slowly, so you can admire the lovely view of the Bogota city while you enjoy the excellent food.
