The Street itself !!! La rue entiere !!!: Quito : A night in Jose Camala Street - Gringoland

by Maillekeul

It's Gringo Land !!! Every guide will indicate this place, but it's really worth going there : you will get everything you want : Internet, good meals, good drinks, nice music....On daytime, it's a very cute street, melting colours and origins....Very tasty !C'est bien Gringoland, indique dans tous les guides ... mais ca vaut le detour ! On trouve de tout : Internet, plats typiques ou etrangers, boissons, musique tendance...De jour, la rue est l'une des plus gaies de Quito.

Many discotecas throughout the country: Dance!

by lenoreva

I can't offer any specific locations, but do go out dancing. Merengue and Salsa are fun to learn, and girls - you'll find plenty of guys who are willing to teach you! I never noticed any dress code anywhere, but Ecuadorians tend to be conservative and very neat in their dress. My host brother even used to have his jeans ironed.

We didn't drink a lot of alcohol because of the acclimatization process. We were off the beaten path for the most part so there weren't many places to party. So for the most part, the most exciting nightlife consisted of spending time in the climbers' huts listening to others try to sleep in the thin air while anticipating the upcoming climb (romantic isn't it?). The huts had quit a mix of people - different tour groups, people from different countries, and we would cross paths with some climbers more than once which was fun. The Cotopaxi hut (pictured here) even had a large local contingent of non-climbers who seemed to be having a party.

DEFINATELY DA AMAZONAS IS WHERE U HAVE TO GO. vISIT ZIMA, MR. FROGS, TIJUANA. IF U DON'T WANT JUST CHILL OUTSIDE YOU'LL PROBABLY HAVE MORE FUN THERE.IT'S A HOLE DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERE, U CAN FEEL IT. WATCH THE DIFFERENT STYLES THAT TEENS BUT MOSTLY CHICKS FROM COLLEGE WANNA SHOW OFF. YOU'LL LAUGH SOMETIMES. FEEL FREE. MOSTLY DRESS CASUAL BUT COOL, SO YOU]LL LIFT UP CHICKS. IF YOUR A GIRL, GO INTO A BAR OR ONE OF THE CLUBS I MENTIONED.

Salsa, salsa, salsa and more salsa. Quito is full of clubs. In cuenca (where I lived) go to La Mesa for sensuel nice mooving hips, and the salsateque just next to cafecito for a swing on the dans floor that´ll last hours. Not far away, just oppisite the church, a nice lady will help you with your munchies. Greasy hamburgesas y fritas and a pretty good rice and vegtable. There are many good places to start the night (or day) such as cafecito, cafe kaos, wunderbar, and proberbly allready tons of others, as cuenca gets more and more popular each day.La casa de la cultura sometimes has good concerts. The best thing about it is that you are liked as you are!

It used to be ZIMA, however I have heard that it is no longer the 'hottest' place to hang out. Tijuana is always fun. Another great place is Aladdin's where you can play cards, eat shwerma and smoke tobacco flavored pipes. It's about 2 blocks from the main strip of bars. As far as I know, they still serve free Tequila at 'Tijuana' at midnight. Bar dancing, meeting new people etc. Most of the bars are casual. If anything some clubs may require nice pants and no sneakers, but nothing more than that.

If you're looking for great nightlife - don't go to Ecuador! While we developed a certain fondness for certain places in Quito - believe me it took a few months- don't expect them to be amazing if you're only there for a few days! In Riobamba, the San Valentin pizzeria is the best place to go -gets quite crowded but was our local for the whole time. Also has a large screen showing english football, and other sports.

The No Bar: nightclub madness

The No Bar, located in the middle of Mariscal Sucre, is a hopping nightclub, one of the best in town. Don't miss it!
