It is possible to get to and from Atacames directly from Quito it takes about seven hours. There are buses that leave throughout the day, but there is also the possibility of taking a night bus.
To Guayaquil, 8 hrs. Ticket value around US$5.80, To Quito, 7 hrs. 3 buses daily. Ticket value around US$5.50. To & from Esmeraldas, 40 minutes. Buses leave every 15 minutes. Ticket value around US$0.80.

You can take a bus from Quito to Atacames for the price of $9.00 per person. The trip lasts about 6 hours but if you take it at night you can sleep or enjoy a movie from the many TV screens in the bus.

We drove from Quito to Atamcames. It took us about four hours but the drive was great. By bus it would have been about 7 hours. There was no traffic and the road was pretty good. Thats a big deal...
