nice place to eat outside if waiting for your bus by richiecdisc Oddly enough we never saw the bus terminal market when we took the bus south into the Andes but came across it by accident while wandering around the city. We heard someone calling out morocho and stopped over to investigate. It’s a non-descript place but had quite a few choices and all reasonably priced.
There were numerous food stalls, all very busy but since we’d already eaten we decided to just try a morocho, a root based sweetish hot beverage. It’s quite tasty and filling so if you hear the words morocho head over and try one yourself. Calamares Salad . . . .hmmm deliscious by filipdebont On our last evening in Ecuador, we decided to have a "good" diner. It was a kind of farewell diner, so the price was no problem. We found the address of this restaurant in the Lonely Planet guide. The restaurant is located in a beautiful building and it is kind of a covered patio. As we entered the restaurant, we felled like, wow what a high class restaurant, let's check the menu first . . . But at first sight the prices did not look extremely high. The diner and the service were first class. This was the perfect place for our "last diner" of a perfect trip through Ecuador and the Galapagos Isles.

Plaza Santo Domingo by filipdebont The restaurant was on the top floor (third floor - I think) of Hotel Real Audiencia. There was a great variety on international dishes (and a few local dishes). The food was great and plenty. Prices were reasonable. Just one thing, pay attention, as they make your bill, they always add another 21% on taxes. So like this your bill becomes a lot bigger then what you have counted on the menu card. And this happened in every restaurant we visited during our roundtrip. There was a splendid panoramic view over Plaza Santo Domingo.
As an entry I had Avocado witch chicken (yummy) and my main course was a steak with mushrooms (deliscious) Leave a Comment Theme: Eclectic/InternationalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterAddress: Bolivar 220 and GuayaquilDirections: Corner of Plaza Santo Domingo

Beginning of Amazonas by Sagespot Zocalo is a great medium sized restaurant located in the heart of the Mariscal Sucre. I caught an early lunch here and slowly sipped my beer looking over the 2nd floor balcony. The atmosphere was very relaxed and there were several patrons simply sitting reading books.
I had a wonderful cheese/rice/veg. egg scramble that was simply devine. The veggies were super fresh and the scramble was very fluffy. I topped it off with an ice cold local brew. View from Pim's restaurant by elsadran The superb views is not the only reason why Pim's restaurant is exceptional. Its elegant ambient, its impeccable service and its perfect location makes it highly recommendable. It's perfect for a cup of coffee or a romantic dinner! Lunch and dinner are also served in the wonderful outside tables. Although a little pricey it is worthy. Coffee costs 1,4$US, starters are 5-10$, salads 5-6$, sandwiches 5-6$ and main dishes 9-10$. The restaurant lies on the east side of the park, one level lower than the cultural center. It has been here since 1981. This is going to sound crazy, but out of all of Quito this was my favorite place to eat. El Arabe had, hands down, the best falafel I've ever had in my life. I kid you not. It is kind of a little dive place, it looks a little sketchy from the doorway, but don't let that stop you! Go right in, and the wait staff, probably watching the spanish soaps, will get right up and get you settled.
Without a doubt the falafel platter is the way to go. It comes with a super yummy sour cream dip (my stomach rumbles to this day with the thoughts of that little brown crockery pot of sauce) and eight generously sized pieces of falafel. Also included in the meal are four thick pieces of flat bread and some lettuce leaves with tomato slices. by grumpywife Ah La Vina. This restaurant was recommended to us by several locals. We ate at the restaurant twice ( lunch and dinner) and were completely satisfied both times by the excellent food and service. Our dinner visit took place on a chilly evening and it was so relaxing to sit by the fire (they burn eucalyptus wood) enjoying our food and beer.
I wish I could remember what it was called. It was a breast of chicken in a creamy garlic butter sauce with broccoli. The chicken was very moist and the sauce was out of this world. Mea Culpa, located on the 2nd floor of the Archdiosal Building offers great ambiance and food. The restaurant has tables set on the outside courtyard and offers live music from local bands on the weekends.
Canelazo, a typical Ecuadorian drink is a must! Aguadiente/ citrus with cinammon and other spices, will warm you all over!
