Cerro Santa Ana, the hill at the northern end of Malecon 2000, is the oldest part of Guayaquil. Las Penas and its 444 steps are located here.

While making sure you don't step on an iguana don't forget to beware of what might be falling on your head.
Some of these iguanas appear to enjoy the attention. I don't know if they get petted every day but they don't seem shy.
This is also called Iguana Park. There are cut up heads of lettuce at a feeding spot in the park so they don't have to scrounge for food.
