Restaurant Huauki: Don't Miss the Amazing Food and Space

by Yoyamada

The newly opened International Food Restaurant Huauki. Chefs are Japanese who have much experience of international food from japanese, Thai, chinese, Vietnam, Mexican, and Ecuadorian. The space of the restaurant is quite amazing. You take your shoes off before entering and sit down on the floor. Just enjoy good music and atomosphere. Drinks are cheap and foods are various. I am sure you would love it. I am sure I would come back!! Spring roll which has shrimp, cucumber, and noodles inside rounded by rice. It was very very good. I would not mind paying to eat this good food.

Don Pan Panaderia - Mindo: Simply tasty!

by SanguiniA

Whilst I was in Mindo I used to visit the Don Pan Panaderia (Bakery) like three or more times a day ... they have excellent bread and really tasty cookies!! They also make some incredible pizza. This place is ideal for those much sought after snacks in between activities, and even for something quick to grab for breakfast. The cookies and pizza are simply awesome

Ceviche

by DanielF

Lovers of raw fish will be at their ease in Equator, for ceviche is widely available, as it is almost all along the Pacific coast of America. Ceviche consists of raw fish marinated in lemon juice, tomato and onion. The main vaireties are made with shrimps and with black clams from the mangroves. The good news for people who cannot stand very spicy food is that, unlike in Mexico, the chili sauce (ají) is served separatedly from the ceviche in Equator, so can you serve yourself if you like. They provide also popcorn and roasted corn to be mixed with the juice.

Tropical fruits

by DanielF

The climate and latitude of Equator are ideal for growing all kinds of tropical fruits: tree tomato, papaya, babaco, naranjilla, maracuya... Either as refreshing juices or as a snack, having a good dose of vitamines was never so tasty for me.

General tip: Breakfast

by CaptainAmerica

I usually make my breakfast of an espresso and a cigarette...But breakfast are very good in Ecuador and I did not miss even one while I was there!Taste the fruit juices, they are incredible.Forget about the coffee, however, it is simply awful (I will not enter into economico-political discussions here, but for a coffee producer country, this is strange enough, isn'it?).

General tip: Cook yourself!

by CaptainAmerica

Another good and cheap way of eating in Ecuador (especially for diner) is to... cook yourself! There are charming markets full of cheap and good food in every single town of Ecuador.A lot of budget hotels for travelers offer kitchen facilities where you can cook your food.A good approach to taste the numerous kinds of fruits and vegetable that Ecuador has to offer.

General tip: El almuerzo!

by CaptainAmerica

The cheapest and most local way to eat at lunch time consists in eating in little local restaurants and ordering the "almuerzo".It consists of a main course, a drink (usually a fruit juice) and a dessert. It's good, its' cheap and it's local. It will cost between USD1 and USD3 depending on the restaurant and the city.

?: Cuenca : Great place for lunch - Super pour dej

by Maillekeul

I would call this place (whose name I never found) : "El taller del artista" ! Indeed, an artist runs the place and has transformed this place in a huge artistic restaurant. Few people come here, and you can enjoy its width and peaceful atmosphere...J'appelerai cet endroit (dont je ne connais toujours pas le nom) : "El taller del artista"!

Cafe Ole: Cuenca : A nice breakfast - Un bon petit-dej

by Maillekeul

It's not the cheapest one in town (from 1.85 USD to 2.50 USD), but I really liked the calm of the place, the really nice juice and coffee and the design !Ce n'est pas le moins cher (de 1.85 a 2.5 USD), mais j'ai bien aime le calme qui y regne, le jus de fruit et le cafe, tout autant que le design !
