We got here too late to take a tour but it looked interesting. We walked into the entrance area and read some of the history.
Cuenca - Unesco heritage for its architecture - colonial and modern. Specially colonial is indeed beautiful!
Año Viejo (31st. of december)
The people wear costumes and dance on the streets. There are big dolls called "Años viejos".
At 12h00pm ecuadorians burn this dolls. This dolls have fireworks inside.Related to:

is likely to be the prettiest town of Ecuador with nice colonial architecture. Altough it has more than 200.000 inhabitants it has a very relaxed atmosphere and some good museums.Related to:
It is a good half day trip to the Equator monument where you can take picture of 0 00' 00" and E, W, N and S.

a view of chimborazo top of the andes. definitely worth a trip, what a drive up and down. absolutely spectacular views
Do not ask me why we stopped in this sleepy town in one of the valleys that surround Quito. But it was fun to stroll in its quiet streets and buy some unedible marzipan.
Latacunga is a must see for the lovely town itself, the Andes around and of course its famouse market.
